CT Results. First Surgery Date. Online Auction

Lots of new and exciting progress on the Brody boys upcoming surgery. We sent his CT scan to the California Ear Institute. We received excellent news that he is a canidate for atresia repair.(opening of his canals) This is the news we have been waiting for since he was 2 weeks old! This means that he will be able to do the combined surgery verses 4 seperate surgeries! We are excited for Brody to have this oppurtunity to get "big boy" ears as well as having the oppurtunity to hear without his BAHA's. There is a chance that he will needd a "phase 2 surgery" on one of his ears, but this we won't know until they operate.

We have set up his very first surgery date for August 14th 2013! YEAH! after saying that, I have come to relize that it is only 6 months away and that I have lots to research for flights, hotels, rental cars, post-operation, and the list goes on! The staff at The California Ear Instute (CEI)  has been very friendly and helpfull with my 8 million questions!

My old college roommate contacted me and wanted to help us raise funds for Brody. So she asked if she could do an online auction to help spread the word about Brody as well as raise money. I think this is really neat. Currently she is looking for donations of items for the online auction. If you or anyone you know would be willing to donate or would like to bid on something please check out her page at  http://www.facebook.com/groups/453566951379176/

Hope you all have a wonderful night!

CT Scan. ENT

Good Evening Everyone!

Today we traveled to Milwaukee to get Brody's CT Scan as well as his annual ENT and Audiologist appointments! It was a long day, but Brody was defiantly a  trooper! Mind you we needed to prep for this, (at his 2 year check up he wouldn't let the Dr touch him). But he did PERFECT! He didn't even need the "sleepy medicine" which was great. He sat and watched fishes swim through the ocean! The nurses were wonderful and he even got a special prize after he was finished with the CT Scan.

Our next appointment was was the ENT and there we reviewed the CT Scan results. Our Dr said that he was a "good candidate for atresia repair". With that being said, we will now send the results to Dr Roberson in California  for him to review, along with his audio gram.

Finally we met with the Audiologist to do some hearing test and make sure his BAHA's are working properly. Brody was getting tired by this point but did an awesome job stacking blocks to the wonderful pitches of the hearing test. His hearing hasn't changed and still has a moderate - severe hearing loss.

Our next steps will be to send off all the results from today to the California Ear Institute for them to review and then we will set up a phone or skype meeting to talk about the results and to see if he is able to do the atresia repair surgery.

Thank you everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Bowling, Pizzas, & California

Last weekend we took Brody bowling for the first time at the 9 pin bowling fundraiser for Brody and Larry from Princeton. We had a ton of fun. Brody didnt want to stop bowling. We all had a blast... There were lots of people who showed up and filled the bowling alley up. Thanks for all the support... still waiting to here how many bowlers there were. Thank you to everyone who planned and organized the event, it was amazing!

Wednesday night the Papa Murphy's Pizza truck pulled in with 286 pizzas and other goodies like cookie dough and cheesey bread! It was great to see some new faces and also to see faces that i haven't seen in forever! :) Thanks to everyone who bought pizzas and who made the extra effort and sold to all there co-workers and familys! We really appreciate it!

I recieved a phone call from the doctors office in california checking in on Brody and seeing how everything was going. They also reminded me that i need to get his CT scan when he is 3 or close to it... I'm hoping to get it schduled for this fall sometime, since he will be 3 in November. Getting the call makes me nervous that his surgery is going to be here soon!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather... 70's in March!

Thank you to Liz Dahlke, Chad Isberner and The Brendan Wegner Family for allowing Brody to be part of the memorial fisheree. Brody was bummed out that it was too cold that he wasn't able to go ice fishing but I was able to attend and saw all of the wonderfull people coming out to fish and remember Brendan. And the food was hot and tasty!

Our last Papa Murphy's fundraiser was such a success, people were requesting more pizza. So we decided to do the Papa Murphy's pizza fundraiser again. December

Sorry that it has been awhile since i have given an update. Brody became a big brother on October 22nd and I have been busy figuring out how to be a mom of 2. I think I have it down so far.

Brody is doing great. He just had his 2nd birthday at the end of November.

The Papa Murphy Pizza fundraiser went very well. We sold about 300 pizzas and raised $799 for Brody. Thank you to everyone who helped with the sale and also thanks to papa murphy for such a great fundraising oppurtunity.

We also sold Christmas wreaths and sold 40 wreaths. Making them was lots of fun, thanks to all who helped make and create the wreaths. Thanks to Huckleberry Tree Farm in Princeton and SnowCrest Tree Farm in Montello for donating the greens to make the wreaths. We very much appreciate it.

Coming up we have the Brendan Wegner Memorial fisheree. Please check out all the information on the webpage. www.brodyhenke.com Thanks.

May you all have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
